As we head into the New Year, there is bound to be plenty of messaging regarding health regarding health, wellness, and being our best selves. When the thought of changing your lifestyle for the better feels daunting, incredible women like RoseAda White are there to guide us through. Rose is a Wellness Strategist, Nutrition Specialist, and Fitness Coach who owns and operates Lifestyle Fitness Training & Balance360 Health & Wellness in Cleveland, Ohio. When she isn't helping clients transform their confidence, she can be found spending time with her family, taking time for herself, & even speaking at engagements like our Mind Body Soul event in March of 2023!

RoseAda, like many other entrepreneurs, stumbled upon her passion through necessity. Beginning with a lifelong love for cooking and an aunt who shared her own passion, Rose found herself pursuing a culinary education with the goal of becoming a chef. After graduating from culinary school in 2001 and starting out in cooking and catering, Rose began picking up on the attitudes of others when it came to food. Everyone has their own unique relationship with food and eating, and she quickly picked up on the fact that many people who struggle in this area of their lives do so because of a simple lack of knowledge.

Around 2004, after overhearing a stranger commenting on the food she was making, Rose found herself inspired to make a change for others and help improve the way they think about what is fueling their bodies. “I've got to find a way to show people that they don’t have to compromise their health to have a good experience with their food. I know it’s possible,” Rose told us about her drive to make change. This revelation ultimately led her to return to school to study nutrition and dietetics. While back at school, working full time, and single parenting, Rose found solace in her alone time often spent at the gym.

With degrees in Culinary Arts and Nutrition/Dietetics, certifications in Hospitality Management, Fitness and Nutrition, and more than 20 years experience in the food industry, Rose has married her culinary and fitness passions into helping others achieve optimal health.

After seeing results from her hard work in the gym coupled with her new knowledge of nutrition, RoseAda realized that many people in her life were taking notice. Often inquiring about her routines and habits, others became curious about how they too could be taking care of their bodies the way that she was. Rose saw this as the opportunity to not only share what she has learned but to roll all of her talents and interests into one and present to the world a solution to their questions about wellness.

Fast forwarding many years of hard work and dedication to her clients, Rose now offers workout and nutrition plans, digital materials, training programs, and even demo workouts. Driven by seeing the difference she was making in others, Rose continued to push herself to provide more resources and services to her clients to set them up for success the best she could. She shared, “The more I saw it having an impact on people, I said this is what I need to be doing. The more I saw a shift happen in people, the more I became cemented in the fact that this is something more of us need to tap into. I am most passionate when I see an opportunity for someone to create a shift and it’s not happening for them. You deserve better.”

We asked Rose about a woman who inspires her and with no surprise, she had an entire group of ladies to shout out! She shared her experience building an uplifting personal network a few years ago through a yoga session with other women. “That was the first time in my adult life where I felt like I could connect with other women who did the same thing in the same arena as me, but we are not competing. We are supporting each other and lifting each other up. These ladies showed me the value in nurturing relationships that are actually reciprocal and nourishing. These women vibrate high,” she said.

Calling them “The Wellness Gang”, Rose listed all of the incredible ladies who have uplifted her in all aspects of life. Dawn Rivers owner of DMR Coaching, Sharee McCants The Menopause Coach, and Nike Olabisi-Green, owner of NOLA Movement are all credited with the magic that Rose considers to be a driving force behind her work. She continues touching on the importance of having a community like this to help nurture and propel yourself and your fellow women to be the best versions of themselves.

As we continued our conversations, we asked RoseAda to elaborate a bit on what it is like to wear the many hats that come along with being a business owner, woman, mother, wife, and friend. Being the driving force behind wellness for so many other people, she truly does need to practice what she preaches in order to avoid burnout and continue to show up as the best version of herself in every aspect of life. She told us that it all comes down to, “Knowing that I have to show up for myself first to do all the things I claim to care about. That's accountability.”

Rose shared that boundaries, for both herself and those around her, are an important part of not only maintaining her health and wellness but also protecting her peace. She continues to say that clear communication and strong boundaries are what have paved the way for success in her life. Specifically, she credits conversations with her family about relaxation time, phone settings to limit screen time and after-hours client work, and taking time off once in a while as catalysts for helping her to serve herself, her family, her clients, and her business as a whole.

We touched a bit on the purpose behind choosing Rose for our January interview and the way that trends often come around this time of year in the wellness space. Everyone can relate to seeing the commercials and ads for gym memberships, weight loss diets, and health medications pop up without fail as soon as the holidays pass each year. It can be overwhelming and negative; especially as women, to feel that we have to commit to making change and achieving the perfect lifestyle come the first of the year.

Rose shared her opinion on trends, specifically the yearly push for toxic wellness products and services saying, “Your body doesn’t know the difference between December 31st and January 1st. So, what’s stopping you from showing up for yourself today? If you want to start in January that’s okay, but that doesn't have to be the cause of you going off the rails with something you can’t sustain. If you do feel like you need to start in January, let's set up a framework now for how you start. Let’s not stumble into the new year.”

Unsurprisingly, RoseAda is big on gratitude and reflection and has implemented the practices of being mindful and present in many aspects of her life. She continues to push through the noise and imposter syndrome that can sometimes exist as a business owner, especially in the wellness space. With all struggles aside and nothing but her signature positivity showing, Rose told us, “I am blown away that I get to do this for a living. I have a lot of gratitude for what I am gifted to do. This is my zone of genius. I don’t want to squander it, not for a moment.”

Standing her ground when it comes to priorities and choosing where to focus her energy have been huge factors in RoseAda’s success both personally and professionally. But as always, no career or passion is without its challenges. When it comes to other trends and goals for the future, RoseAda talked a bit about knowing who to trust and how the wellness industry can fall victim to a lack of integrity among those who work within it. “I’m thankful that I have stayed focused on maintaining the integrity of the Lifestyle Fitness Training philosophy: we are training our minds and bodies to be fit for the lives we want to live. I’m seeing that, as short-sighted trends continue to grab the attention of some, the people who choose to work with me understand that Wellness Transformation is a present activity and not a future event,” Rose said.

As we see often with inspiring women, Rose has a long list of goals and wishes for both herself and her business. She told us, “My goals for the future are to continue making an impact through the launch of a Wellness Retreat Membership and the expansion of my signature nutrition workshop. I’m also looking forward to sharing my story and words of inspiration with various audiences on stages throughout 2024.”

Showing up for others the way she shows up for herself is the mantra that drives RoseAda’s endless success. Without fail, she continues to not only push herself to be the best version she can be but actively grabs the hands of those around her and brings them along on the journey. She is a shining example of hard work, dedication, and discipline while remaining a gentle and thoughtful reminder of what we all can achieve if we set our minds to it.

A total powerhouse and ray of positive energy, Rose has taken every experience thrown her way and turned it into education that has furthered her career, her confidence, and her community. We are honored to not only call her a friend but to have made a connection with her early in our Mind-Body-Soul planning that led to her being our featured speaker and inspiring so many women in Cleveland. It is such a joy to see all that she does, and we are thrilled to continue cheering her on forever.
